My story of a creative life..and a turn towards an unknown

I Was Born in Prague to active and cultured parents. Our family emigrated to Canada in 1968. We settled in Vancouver B.C. and lived in various locations. These included houses near the Ridge theatre, 16th avenue, an apartment in the West End and a home in Richmond. At an early age, I showed an affinity for drawing and painting. As a teenager I began to lean towards my artistic side. This direction continued at Commercial Art school in the 80's and Computer Graphics school in the early 90's. I was then lucky enough to find work in the local Post Production industry for well over twenty years. Throughout my career I have tried to pursue many other creative avenues away from my field of work. In mid 2008, I started watching webcam websites. At a certain point, I started viewing this media in a much different way. The story of the the fleeting visual image captured my creative imagination. I started playing with capturing what ever came on the screen with the camera on an older smart phone. I then imagined the potential of this image in a modern art realm.

Hence I began experimenting how to print these low resolution, digital images and treating them with imagined mixed media. This process was not working and at a certain point I put these ideas on the back burner. Eventually dropping this pursuit entirely. Years later after a visit to Malaspina printers on Granville island. I saw various works that incorporated multiple techniques including digital printing on archival water colour paper. This re-sparked my passion for my artistic endeavours and I began multiple mentorship sessions with Malaspina print master, Val Nelson. These printed images where then taken through a long discovery process, before the path would come to light. This current artistic journey is now like a flowing river, is able to travel in many directions and resolve into various forms.
